A NEW crossing and traffic lights in Kangaroo Flat are making access easier and safer for users of the Bendigo Special Developmental School, Kangaroo Flat Library and the Bendigo Creek Trail.<\/p>\n
Pedestrian-operated signals have been installed near the intersection of Neil Street and Lockwood Road in Kangaroo Flat.<\/p>\n
A new pedestrian crossing has also been created on Neil Street to provide a direct connection for students and families travelling across the new lights to Bendigo Special Developmental School.<\/p>\n
The completion of works could not be more timely, according to Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards, with the developmental school currently undergoing an $8.8 million upgrade.<\/p>\n
“This project is a real game-changer for Bendigo Special Developmental School students and those visiting Kangaroo Flat Library, making it safer to cross this busy road,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Locals using the Bendigo Creek Trail also know it could be challenging to navigate crossing Lockwood Road, so these new lights are a welcome addition to Kangaroo Flat.<\/p>\n
“I’ve had lots of advocacy for this project over many years, and I’m proud we’ve been able to deliver it.<\/p>\n
“Thank you to the project team for their work, and the community for their patience.”<\/p>\n
The two new crossing points are fully accessible for those using mobility devices to provide everyone with the opportunity to cross the roads safely.<\/p>\n
The new lights link with the Bendigo Creek Trail, a popular walking and cycling route connecting Kangaroo Flat with Epsom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
