LONG Gully Neighbourhood Centre coordinator and Kerry Parry has encouraged locals to complete the 2025 Active Living Census, highlighting that the benefits that the data provide are long lasting.<\/p>\n

The census covers a broad range of topics, including participation in organised sport, plus consumption of fruit, vegetables, water, alcohol and sugary drinks.<\/p>\n

It also covers rates of obesity, smoking, gambling habits, levels of life satisfaction and barriers to eating well and being physically active.<\/p>\n

Findings will help inform decisions regarding investments, infrastructure, programs and services.<\/p>\n

“In Long Gully, local projects like walking path upgrades and outdoor fitness equipment received significant funding support because the data available from the previous Active Living Census demonstrate(d) the need for (them),” Ms Parry said.<\/p>\n

“(It) gave us a clear picture of what people in Long Gully needed to live healthier, more active lives.<\/p>\n

“From the upgrades at Long Gully Recreation Reserve, to distance markers, wayfinding signs, and a bike repair station along the Long Gully Trail, to tai chi classes, multicultural cooking programs and school garden projects, we’ve been able to deliver real, on-the-ground improvements that reflect our community’s priorities.<\/p>\n

“The census is a really simple way to contribute to the data needed in the future so we can continue to provide new facilities for our community, and I urge everyone to take the time to complete the census and help shape a healthier Greater Bendigo.”<\/p>\n

Participants who complete the survey before this Sunday have the chance to win their share of $10,000 in prizes through weekly draws.<\/p>\n
