{"id":105691,"date":"2025-06-28T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=105691"},"modified":"2025-06-27T12:35:24","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T02:35:24","slug":"call-out-for-aspiring-stage-one-gallery-redevelopers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/call-out-for-aspiring-stage-one-gallery-redevelopers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call out for aspiring stage one Gallery redevelopers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EXPRESSIONS of interest are open for construction companies with the capability to deliver stage one of the $45 million Bendigo Art Gallery redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p>The works, which are expected to begin in early 2026 and take about two years to complete, will deliver a second level major exhibition space, a learning centre, theatrette and Traditional Owner Place of Keeping.<\/p>\n<p>City of Greater Bendigo chief executive officer Andrew Cooney said he expected there would be significant interest from the construction sector to be part of the project.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Gallery redevelopment is a major, city-defining project for Bendigo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(It&#8217;s) an investment in arts and culture as well as the economic future of our region, and would be an incredible project for a construction company to have in its portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;An expression of interest process is an opportunity for construction companies to demonstrate their capacity and experience in delivering projects of this scale and complexity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They must also be able to outline how they will utilise the local sub-contractor network and employment of local staff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, gallery director Jessica Bridgfoot said it would be beneficial for the successful tender to have experience in deliveringcultural projects.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our focus is to deliver a world-class gallery experience and contemporary building that cements the Gallery&#8217;s reputation as an empowering, inclusive and engaging cultural facility for future generations, &#8220;she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(It&#8217;s) a project that incorporates our heritage gallery spaces and a key focus of the building&#8217;s fa\u00e7ade and a critical feature of the redevelopment is honouring the Dja Dja Wurrung Traditional Owners.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So, it will be important the head contractor understands the vision we have set out for this next chapter in the Gallery&#8217;s history.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The expression of interest process is open until Monday, June 30.
