THE Bendigo Tourism Board (BRT) and its members have voted to transition to a Visitor Economy Partnership (VEP), to be known as Destination Greater Bendigo Loddon, at a recent special general meeting.<\/p>\n
As a result, BRT will be wound up to make way for Destination Greater Bendigo Loddon as the official regional entity.<\/p>\n
The new model will represent members across the City of Greater Bendigo (including Bendigo, Heathcote, Goornong, Elmore and Axedale) and Loddon Shire (including Boort, Pyramid Hill, Wedderburn, Inglewood, Bridgewater, Mitiamo, Serpentine, Newbridge and Tarnagulla) council regions.<\/p>\n
VEPs are independent destination management entities recognised by government as peak official voices for the visitor economy in their region and collaborate with the Victorian Government, councils and tourism operators.<\/p>\n
Destination Greater Bendigo Loddon interim chair Kath Bolitho said members have been visionary in their adoption of the changes.<\/p>\n
“The tourism landscape is shifting, and Bendigo’s visitor economy now has the opportunity to evolve and remain competitive,” she said.<\/p>\n
“By supporting this transition, Bendigo Tourism members will play a vital role in shaping a stronger and more connected future to grow our region.<\/p>\n
“This shift towards a recognised state-wide model reflects extensive consultation, research and strategic planning by industry leaders, local councils and the Victorian Government.”<\/p>\n
The change offers benefits including stronger industry representation, increased funding and resources, enhanced regional collaboration and a unified strategy for growth.<\/p>\n
Work has commenced on the transition and further information will soon be available for current and potential new members over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
