{"id":106633,"date":"2025-08-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=106633"},"modified":"2025-07-30T22:28:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T12:28:08","slug":"livewire-bombers-forward-lights-up-south-bendigo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/sport\/livewire-bombers-forward-lights-up-south-bendigo\/","title":{"rendered":"Livewire Bombers forward lights up South Bendigo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISAAC Kako has been a smash hit with Essendon fans during an exciting debut season in the AFL.<\/p>\n<p>But at Harry Trott Oval last week, the livewire small forward won over an entirely new army of fans, not in red and black, but in red and white.<\/p>\n<p>Kako was the star attraction at an AFL footy clinic, delivered by Red Energy and sports radio network SEN in conjunction with the South Bendigo Junior Football Club.<\/p>\n<p>Not far removed from his own exhilarating junior career, 19-year-old Kako put the next generation of aspiring stars through their paces in a series of training drills, before being grilled in a question and answer session.<\/p>\n<p>South Bendigo junior president Roddy Marshall said it was an awesome experience for the young Bloods footballers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The kids had a ball, Isaac is a really nice guy,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2025\/08\/IMG_8573-12_28920.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"440\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Isaac Kako passes on a few tips to a youngster at Harry Trott Oval last week.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because he&#8217;s only a young player himself, and grew up idolising Essendon himself, he just sad to the kids that everyone&#8217;s dream is possible. If you work hard at your goals, you can get there.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Isaac went from drill to drill and cone to cone, had a talk to the kids, and the kids were able to talk freely to him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Q&amp;A session with the kids was really good; (there were) some interesting questions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Drafted from Calder Cannons with pick 13 in the 2024 AFL National Draft, Kako has played in all 18 games for the Bombers in his debut season.<\/p>\n<p>He earned a Rising Star nomination for his performance in the club&#8217;s round 17 loss to the Gold Coast, highlighted by a career-high 17 disposals and five tackles.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2025\/08\/IMG_86631_45559.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"406\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">South Bendigo Junior Football Club is the recipient of a $1000 donation from Red Energy&#8217;s Born and Bred program. The money will be used to boost the Bloods&#8217; junior pathways.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The clinic came as the Bloods continue to kick goals with their junior football program.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are really happy with the program at the moment,&#8221; Marshall said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a good committee that is behind everyone at the club and the coaches, and we have a very good relationship with the senior committee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We feel as though we are flying at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I couldn&#8217;t tell you how many sides will make finals, there are still a few close battles being fought, but we will have a good representation come finals time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2025\/08\/IMG_86551_47280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Isaac Kako signs an autograph for a fan.
