YEAR twelve students who volunteer at Bendigo Health during their school holidays will receive an early conditional offer through the La Trobe University Aspire Early Offer program, it’s been announced.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to reward students participating in volunteering and drive more volunteers to Bendigo Health, while inspiring young people in the community to pursue higher education in health-related courses at La Trobe.<\/p>\n

“This exciting partnership means student volunteers see first-hand the impact and importance of volunteering while at the same time gaining experience in the healthcare environment,” said director of volunteer services at Bendigo Health Sharon Walsh.<\/p>\n

“The pathway from volunteering to tertiary education and eventual employment demonstrates how volunteering can open doors to a career while supporting a future healthcare workforce for Bendigo Health and our region.<\/p>\n

“Five students who’ve volunteered at the hospital this year have now applied for La Trobe’s Aspire program, in addition to six applicants last year.”<\/p>\n

“Volunteering at Bendigo Health is a powerful way for local students to give back and it can also help them step into their future careers,” said La Trobe Bendigo campus head Marg O’Rourke.<\/p>\n

“Aspire recognises students who are already making a difference in their communities. For many who volunteer, it builds confidence, leadership, social skills and a sense of purpose.<\/p>\n

“This partnership not only creates meaningful volunteer opportunities for secondary school students but also plants the seed for a future in health.”<\/p>\n
