AN annual short film showcase featuring bicycles and cyclists from around the world returns to Eaglehawk’s Star Cinema once again on Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 September.<\/p>\n

This year’s Big Bike Film Night films include a heartwarming documentary that explores the importance of getting outside, no matter where one is on life’s journey, and an inspiring mountain bike ride through back-country New Zealand.<\/p>\n

A tale about a group of friends who undertake a trip to the Scottish Highlands to show what can be achieved by people with disabilities is sure to be another highlight, as well as an exhilarating film that redefines what’s possible on a gravel bike on challenging terrains.<\/p>\n

The Big Bike Film Night’s curator and founder Brett Cotter said each year he sets out with just one goal – to bring together the best short cycling films worldwide for attending audiences.<\/p>\n

“Our scintillating 2025 collection contains eight mesmerising films that are as varied and diverse as you could hope for,” he said.<\/p>\n

“(We’re featuring) arguably the finest selection of backyard adventures in New Zealand yet, (plus) films from northern Pakistan to the suburban streets of Santa Barbara in America, (and) from the soaring mountain peaks of Austria to the captivating Scottish Highlands.<\/p>\n

“The power of storytelling is at the forefront of what we offer, and the belief that the humble bicycle can help improve our health, inspire and uplift people with where it can take you.<\/p>\n

“It’s a real honour connecting communities with stories that captivate us, move us, and most importantly of all inspire us to get out and ride.”<\/p>\n
