{"id":107794,"date":"2025-09-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=107794"},"modified":"2025-09-17T16:33:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T06:33:47","slug":"shakespearian-comedy-coming-to-inglewood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/shakespearian-comedy-coming-to-inglewood\/","title":{"rendered":"Shakespearian comedy coming to Inglewood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LYSTER Opera will present an operatic adaption of William Shakespeare\u2019s <em>The Merry Wives of Windsor<\/em> at the Inglewood Town Hall on 21 September.<\/p>\n<p>Composed by Otto Nicolai, the opera promises an afternoon of laughter, music, and theatrical delight.<\/p>\n<p>A cast of seasoned performers and emerging talent, under the direction of Daniel Sinfield, will give their take on Shakespeare\u2019s timeless characters.<\/p>\n<p>Lyster Opera has been touring country Victoria for 10 years bringing performances such as Mozart\u2019s <em>Don Giovanni<\/em>, Donizetti\u2019s<em> L\u2019Elisir d\u2019Amore <\/em>and <em>Don Pasquale<\/em> to regional audiences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Merry Wives of Windsor is a lively and funny production with some really exciting singers,\u201d said Lyster Opera director Jamie Moffatt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe production\u2019s visual storytelling is enhanced by period costumes and evocative imagery, creating a rich theatrical experience that transports audiences to the heart of Elizabethan England.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComposed in 1849 by Otto Nicolai, <em>The Merry Wives of Windsor <\/em>is a comic opera in three acts with a German libretto by Salomon Hermann Mosenthal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt follows the Singspiel tradition, combining musical numbers with spoken dialogue, similar to modern musical theatre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opera follows the misadventures of Sir John Falstaff, a pompous knight who attempts to seduce two married women for financial gain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe clever wives uncover his scheme and orchestrate a series of hilarious pranks to teach him a lesson.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the 2pm performance are available from<a href=\"http:\/\/lysteropera.com.au\"><strong> lysteropera.com.au<\/strong><\/a> or 0410 890 388.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LYSTER Opera will present an operatic adaption of William Shakespeare\u2019s The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Inglewood Town Hall on 21 September.
