VETERAN US bubblegum-punk band Good Charlotte will visit Bendigo next February as part of its Motel Du Cap World Tour, it’s been announced.<\/p>\n

The coup looks to have been made possible by the State Government’s $38 million Regional Event Fund and adds to other funded events including Comedy in the Vines, OK Rochester, the Mildura Fringe Festival and Sunnyside Ballarat.<\/p>\n

It will be one of the band’s first shows in Australia in almost a decade and celebrates the release of their highly-anticipated eighth studio album.<\/p>\n

Fronted by twin brothers Joel and Benji Madden, Good Charlotte recorded hits including Little Things and Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous in the early 2000s.<\/p>\n

They won best single for the latter at the 2003 at the Kerrang! Awards.<\/p>\n

“Australia is such a special place to Good Charlotte and to me personally, it feels like a home away from home in many ways, and we can’t wait to head back there for some big shows,” Joel Madden said.<\/p>\n

“It’s been far too long since we’ve spent time with our Aussie fans, we’re all in for a big treat.”<\/p>\n

Premier Jacinta Allan said fans will want to be in Bendigo to see “these rock icons” take the stage to perform some of their biggest hits.<\/p>\n

“Importantly, this gig will also support our local cafes, restaurants and accommodation providers,” she said.<\/p>\n

Good Charlotte, supported by Yellowcard and Kisschasy, perform at the Bendigo Racecourse on Saturday 21 February.<\/p>\n
