The Eaglehawk Recycle Shop has been saved, with its management and operation formally taken over by the City of Greater Bendigo.<\/p>\n
City presentation and assets director Brian Westley said the shop, which has been renamed Eaglehawk Recycle Centre, will operate in parallel with the City’s other recycling centres in Strathfieldsaye, Heathcote and Goornong.<\/p>\n
“Residents can still dispose of a range of recyclable items for free at the drive-through drop-off point, which is located at the entrance to the landfill (site),” he said.<\/p>\n
“However, sales of second-hand and recycled goods will not be available until mid-November as we undertake improvement and safety works to the sales area.<\/p>\n
“When (it) reopens, residents will be able to purchase a great range of second-hand items at bargain prices.<\/p>\n
“We do apologise in advance for any inconvenience during the changeover period and we ask for patience as we make some changes to ensure a smooth transition.”<\/p>\n
Mr Westley said in the short term the City has employed staff through an agency arrangement with Programmed, a leading provider of staffing, facility management and maintenance services.<\/p>\n
“This has allowed some existing ERS staff to continue their employment at the facility,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Any future job opportunities at the centre will be advertised via the City’s usual employment channels.<\/p>\n
“The City takes this opportunity to thank ERS for operating the facility for many years and we look forward to welcoming all existing and new customers to the new Eaglehawk Recycling Centre in the future.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
