{"id":109228,"date":"2025-11-12T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=109228"},"modified":"2025-11-06T22:48:50","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T11:48:50","slug":"tribute-to-hoon-capital-to-rev-up-engine-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/living\/tribute-to-hoon-capital-to-rev-up-engine-room\/","title":{"rendered":"Tribute to Hoon Capital to rev up Engine Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW theatre production from local disability arts program CreateA featuring choreography, storytelling, music and video will be staged at The Engine Room in December.<\/p>\n<p>Burnout Ballet is described as an opportunity for performers of all abilities to take the stage, share their stories and be seen as artists, fusing street culture with dance to celebrate local stories, challenge perceptions and showcase its performers.<\/p>\n<p>The show originated as an idea from a news story about the famed &#8220;burnout&#8221; behaviour in Bendigo streets.<\/p>\n<p>CreateA developed a show that has bar scenes, car scenes and dance routines. The CEO of Golden City Support Services\/CreateA, Natasha Williams, said the combination of street and dance culture brings high energy and a great deal of fun to the stage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Burnout Ballet is inspired by real stories and real people,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It&#8217;s about who gets to be heard, and who gets to perform.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It has been made possible through support from the City of Greater Bendigo, including the rehearsal and performance spaces, and a $5000 Power-Up Grant from the Ulumbarra Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Foundation chair Carolyn Stanford said the project provided opportunities for local performers of all abilities to be involved in a fully staged theatre production.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We loved that the story was developed here in Bendigo, is about our regional culture and developed in conjunction with the artists,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Burnout Ballet will be performed at The Engine Room in View Street on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December.
