ONE of Bendigo’s premier annual opportunities for local bands and solo musicians has opened applications for its 2026 roster.<\/p>\n

The Live on View program supports six contemporary music performances at live space the Engine Room in View Street each year and is promoted as a great way for soloists and bands to take the next step in their development.<\/p>\n

The first two dates for 2026 are Friday 27 March and Friday 24 April.<\/p>\n

Applications will be assessed based on the delivery of a diverse and integrated program and the quality of the work, with priority to be given to emerging artists or those who are presenting new material.<\/p>\n

Successful applicants will also receive technical support, help with ticketing and promotion, plus ticket revenue from the gig ($10 a pop).<\/p>\n

City of Greater Bendigo’s Creative City program lead Philippa Chalke said the initiative is a great chance for less-experienced performers to see what it’s like to hit the big stage.<\/p>\n

“They might have played in a bar or something but not necessarily their own headline show,” she said.<\/p>\n

“This gives them that opportunity to work with professionals and get up to speed with the admin side of things as well.<\/p>\n

“That’s really important from a professional development perspective – how to deal with a venue, how to describe what setup you need on stage and how to chat to the marketing team about your promo.<\/p>\n

“It’s a really great opportunity to dip their toes into the professional music sector.<\/p>\n

“For anyone looking to branch out and try something new, it’s a way they can shoot for the moon and try something a bit out there with very little risk.”<\/p>\n
