Flash-in-the-pan heavy metal\/hardcore touring music event Park Waves Festival, which was slated to take over the Bendigo Jockey Club on 1 March next year, has been cancelled out of the blue.<\/p>\n
“The cancellation is due to a combination of challenges, and ultimately, the numbers no longer stack up,” organisers Destroy All Lines said in a statement.<\/p>\n
“We’ve tried everything – we’re gutted.<\/p>\n
“We know everyone will be understandably disappointed.<\/p>\n
“To anyone who bought tickets and to everyone who keeps showing up for live music, thank you.”<\/p>\n
Byron Bay headliners Parkway Drive (who originally put together the concept) also released a statement, saying “this is a message we never imagined we’d have to write, and it weighs heavily on us.”<\/p>\n
“Just writing this feels like a kick in the guts, but here we are, another festival being crushed by the rising costs across our entertainment industry,” it read.<\/p>\n
“It hurts to be another casualty in this chapter of the Australian music scene.<\/p>\n
“To everyone who continues to support live music in this country, thank you.<\/p>\n
“Please know that your support is what keeps this culture alive and standing strong through the worst of times.”<\/p>\n
The proposed line-up also included The Amity Affliction (one of Australia’s most successful post-hardcore bands), Sydney’s Northlane, Grammy nominated Alpha Wolf (originally from Tasmania) and American post-hardcore\/alternative rockers Story of the Year.<\/p>\n
The ticket price\/booking fee will be refunded to ticketholders, with further details to be forwarded in due course via email.<\/p>\n
