In a statement last week, assurances were given that the program will continue under the guidance of local administrators and coaches.<\/p>\n
“Over the last year the Bendigo rep squad has been preparing for changes to the administration of the program moving into 2026 and beyond,” it said.<\/p>\n
“Rest assured that the program will continue under the guidance of local administrators and coaches and we expect that for the most part any changes will be in the administration tools that support the program.”<\/p>\n
The league confirmed the appointments of high-profile Strathfieldsaye-Colts United star Rebecca Berry and J.J. Miles as the respective squad coaches.<\/p>\n
“Bec Berry should be no stranger to the Bendigo football community. A highly awarded player, Bec is a superstar of Bendigo and Victorian women’s football,” the statement read.<\/p>\n
“Bec has over recent years become a highly awarded and successful coach. Bec is a B-licensed coach who was awarded FV community female coach of the year in 2024 and has been part of the Bendigo rep program as a coach and mentor for many years, taking our girls’ program from strength to strength and laying the ground work for the explosion of junior female participation in the region.<\/p>\n
“We are excited for the future of the program under Bec’s leadership<\/p>\n
“J.J. Miles is likewise a well-known face in Bendigo football.<\/p>\n
“A C-licensed coach, J.J. brings extensive experience across junior and senior football, having coached across all age groups and contributing to several successful youth development pathways in the region. “His work with players at both community and representative level has earned him a reputation for building technically strong, confident and hard-working squads and we are excited to see him bring these qualities to the program.”<\/p>\n
Representative squad trials have been held and resulted in a record numbers of players trying out.<\/p>\n
