KANGAROO Flat Library has scored more than $44,000 in funding to install a number of wi-fi enabled, prefabricated soundproof meeting pods within the facility.<\/p>\n

The pods are designed to address growing demand for quiet, connected environments by providing the increasingly popular fit-for-purpose units which are said to be ideal for remote work, study and online engagement.<\/p>\n

The library is one of 18 around Victoria to benefit financially from the current round of the State Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.<\/p>\n

The program supports initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to local areas and increase access to learning, participation and engagement with community libraries.<\/p>\n

It has outlayed $57.6 million since 2014 across 176 different infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n

Other libraries to receive funding in this round include Kew Library ($550,000 towards its redevelopment), Mansfield Library ($242,000 to fund a library van), Portland Library ($41,000 for further meeting pods) and Deans Marsh Library ($24,500 to establish a self-service library locker).<\/p>\n

“Victorian libraries are more than just books and we are committed to providing our communities with safe, modern and inclusive spaces that they can be proud of,” Minister for Local Government Nick Staikos said.<\/p>\n

“Libraries are at the heart of every community, which is why we’re proud to support these 18 local spaces to create lasting impact.”<\/p>\n

Kangaroo Flat Library can be found at 23 Lockwood Road and is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am.<\/p>\n
