BENDIGO Health will receive $3 million for new surgical equipment including a laparoscopy system as well as $1.2 million to upgrade its orthopedic and plastics tools via the ninth round of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF).<\/p>\n
This builds on existing local projects supported by the fund, including a new wing at Golden Oaks Nursing Home in Golden Square and Central Sterile Department and bedside medical device upgrades.<\/p>\n
“These projects in Bendigo will deliver the latest equipment so our community can continue to get the care they need, close to home,” Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan said.<\/p>\n
“We’re making sure that no matter where you live, all Victorians can access the best healthcare in the very best facilities.”<\/p>\n
Since establishing the RHIF in 2016, the State Government has financed over 675 projects for regional health services \u2013 the largest program of its type in Victoria.<\/p>\n
Now worth a total of $790 million, it plays a role in ensuring regional health services can attract and retain a highly skilled local workforce, with construction projects also supporting the creation of hundreds of jobs statewide.<\/p>\n
“We established the RHIF so no regional health service is left behind \u2013 where you live shouldn’t determine the quality of care you can receive,” Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne said.<\/p>\n
