{"id":111755,"date":"2026-02-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=111755"},"modified":"2026-02-18T22:22:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T11:22:47","slug":"temporary-classrooms-out-the-door-at-camp-hill-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/temporary-classrooms-out-the-door-at-camp-hill-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Temporary classrooms out the door at Camp Hill school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UPGRADES are about to begin at one of Victoria&#8217;s oldest educational institutions, Camp Hill Primary School in Gaol Road (opened on 1 January 1878), to swap out a number of modular classrooms with permanent facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The works are being funded by $4.1 million via the 2024-25 State Government budget and will aim to give students access to vastly better equipped learning spaces, with Melbourne-based construction company Arc3 acting as head contractor.<\/p>\n<p>This follows the school sharing in $24 million for planning from the 2023-24 budget.<\/p>\n<p>Previous works at Camp Hill in late 2022 involved building a sensory garden with distinct learning areas at a cost of $172,165, paid for by the State Government&#8217;s Minor Capital Works Fund and designed by West Melbourne firm Architecture Matters.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards said the Camp Hill project means families in Bendigo can be confident their local school is getting the infrastructure needed to support students for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re working to upgrade and modernise Camp Hill Primary School to give students the facilities they deserve,&#8221;\u202f\u202fMs Edwards said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been a pleasure to work with principal Chris Barker, staff, students and families to reach this point, and I can&#8217;t wait to see this project get underway.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The government reports it has put more than $18.5 billion over the past decade into building new schools and upgrading over 2300 existing ones, supporting more than 30,000 jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Further details can be found on the Victorian School Building Authority website at <a href=\"http:\/\/schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au\/camp-hill-primary-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au\/camp-hill-primary-school<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UPGRADES are about to begin at one of Victoria&#8217;s oldest educational institutions, Camp Hill Primary School in Gaol Road (opened on 1 January 1878), to swap out a number of modular classrooms with permanent facilities.
