GISBORNE coach Tarryn Rymer has lauded a well-rounded performance in a 27-goal win over finals aspirant Eaglehawk in round 6 of BFNL A-grade netball.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs notched up their fourth straight win with a 60-33 triumph over a Hawks team unable to rebound following a disappointing loss at home against Strathfieldsaye in round 5.<\/p>\n
A polished win came with no weak links for the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n
“I couldn’t fault the girls at all \u2013 they looked really good,” Rymer said.<\/p>\n
“Everyone had plenty of good moments; I don’t think there were any real concerns.<\/p>\n
“The first quarter was goal for goal, but then we managed to break away.<\/p>\n
“We needed a good win, so it was good to get it done.<\/p>\n
“Across the board, midcourters, shooters and defenders, everyone played their part.”<\/p>\n
Pleasingly for Rymer, the Bulldogs hit top flight in the third quarter, scoring 18 goals, to stretch their nine-goal lead at half-time to 21 at the final change of end.<\/p>\n
The win finds the Bulldogs in second position on the ladder on percentage over Sandhurst, with their next game against Broadford on May 30.<\/p>\n
Gisborne will have three players involved in this Saturday’s interleague contest \u2013 co-captains Kirby Elliott and Charlee Kemp and fellow defender Tilly Shepherd.<\/p>\n
Fifth on the ladder last season, Eaglehawk slumped to 1-5 and eighth position on the ladder.<\/p>\n
A must-win game against winless Castlemaine awaits the Hawks after the bye.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Sandhurst moved to 4-1 with a 60-47 victory over South Bendigo at Harry Trott Oval.<\/p>\n
The Dragons steadily increased their three-goal quarter time lead as the game progressed, but really put their foot down in a 17-10 final term.<\/p>\n
South Bendigo (4-2) remains in fourth spot, one win ahead of a surging Strathfieldsaye, which scored its third straight win with an 80-26 victory over Broadford.<\/p>\n
At Dower Park, Kangaroo Flat made it six straight wins this season with an 82-42 win over Golden Square.<\/p>\n
The Roos set the tone with a 20-11 opening term before opening up a 20-goal lead at half-time.<\/p>\n
Encouragingly for the Roos and also for the BFNL’s interleague hopes against Ovens and Murray, Chelsea Sartori made a return after missing the previous week’s win game with a calf injury.<\/p>\n
