IF you pass through Pennyweight Walk between now and Sunday 24 May there’s a chance you’ll find a number of artists hard at work.<\/p>\n

It’s all part of the City of Greater Bendigo’s A Week in the Lane initiative, with each practitioner restricted to using only brushes and\/or rollers with aerosol not permitted.<\/p>\n

According to the City, the nine participating artists were selected following an expression of interest in March for applicants to deliver new vibrant pieces of public art, based on their individual theme choice.<\/p>\n

They have each been allocated a three metre by two metre space to create their medium-scale murals.<\/p>\n

“The chosen artists were selected for their passion for colour, place and storytelling, and individual themes,” said Bendigo Venues and Events manager Julie Amos.<\/p>\n

“This is a wonderful celebration of Greater Bendigo’s creative spirit as they transform the laneway with fresh colour and vibrancy.<\/p>\n

“Community members are encouraged to drop in throughout the week to see the works in progress, meet the artists, and experience the laneway’s evolving transformation.<\/p>\n

“It’s a great reason for residents and visitors to explore the city centre and appreciate the new murals.”<\/p>\n

The refreshing results will be celebrated with a gathering on\u202fSunday at 2pm.<\/p>\n

The artworks are being completed by Frankie O, Kim Lowe, Louise Davis, Wes Franklin, Tomi McManus, Kate Smith, Alicia Huddy, Maxine Thomson and Narsha Kang.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
