BENDIGO Spirit will be without Australian 3×3 star Emma Clarke for the upcoming season, following the 26-year-old’s signing with WNBL rivals Townsville Fire.<\/p>\n
Clarke, known for her perimeter shooting, defensive versatility and competitive edge, played only nine games for the Spirit last season, averaging 3.78 points per game and three rebounds.<\/p>\n
She joined the club mid-season as a permanent replacement player for five-time championship star Marianna Tolo following the announcement of her pregnancy.<\/p>\n
She previously played with her hometown Perth Lynx and Sydney Flames.<\/p>\n
The Spirit thanked Clarke for her contribution via its social media accounts.<\/p>\n
“With the recent announcement of Emma Clarke joining the Townsville Fire, we would like to thank Emma for her time in Bendigo,” a statement read.<\/p>\n
“From the get-go she was a fantastic teammate and player.<\/p>\n
“We wish her all the best.”<\/p>\n
Announcing her signing, Townsville Fire head coach Shannon Seebohm said Clarke’s versatility and upside made her an exciting addition to the roster.<\/p>\n
“She’s a versatile and athletic wing who we believe will make an impact on both ends of the floor with her energy, competitiveness and ability to play multiple positions,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Emma is someone who still has a lot of untapped potential, and we’re looking forward to helping her grow within our program.”<\/p>\n
Clarke is part of the Gangurrus squad currently representing Australia at the FIBA 3×3 2026 World Cup in Poland.<\/p>\n
The four-player squad also includes one-time Bendigo Braves star Amy Atwell, Marena Whittle, and Hannah Hank.<\/p>\n
Confirmed Spirit re-signings for 2026\u201327 include reigning WNBL MVP Izzy Borlase, Olivia Pollerd, Abbey Wehrung, Kelsey Rees, Georgia Booth and Casey Samuels.<\/p>\n
