{"id":114849,"date":"2026-06-06T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=114849"},"modified":"2026-06-04T21:35:04","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T11:35:04","slug":"action-aplenty-as-council-endorses-city-blueprint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/action-aplenty-as-council-endorses-city-blueprint\/","title":{"rendered":"Action aplenty as council endorses city blueprint"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW action plan for the city centre that aims to transform it into &#8220;a more vibrant, accessible and investment-ready destination&#8221; has been adopted by the City of Greater Bendigo council.<\/p>\n<p>The Bendigo City Centre Action Plan 2026\u20132029 is billed as a highly collaborative strategy, with the city having engaged with landlords, agents and businesses in an effort to bring together all precincts to achieve a high-performing, revitalised centre.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme features targeted actions to boost economic activity and enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors and has been informed by a retail and hospitality gap analysis, economic modelling and an investment attraction plan developed by local consulting firm REMPLAN.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Cr Thomas Prince said it provides a fresh direction for the centre of Bendigo.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve heard strong community support for a vibrant city centre that delivers shopping, jobs, culture and tourism,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The plan outlines 26 actions and recognises there is no single solution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is not something the city can deliver alone, as it does not own or control private properties.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cr Prince said its success will depend on strong partnerships and support from various stakeholders and a community that actively backs local traders in the city centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The goal is simple: more people, more often, building confidence and reinforcing Bendigo as open for business and investment,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To achieve this, we need a compelling mix of retail, hospitality and entertainment, and a city centre that attracts people day and night.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Activating underused sites and growing the evening economy will be key to creating a lively, welcoming destination.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To access the Bendigo City Centre Action Plan 2026\u20132029, visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/bendigo.vic.gov.au\/about-us\/plans-strategies-and-documents\">CoGB website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW action plan for the city centre that aims to transform it into &#8220;a more vibrant, accessible and investment-ready destination&#8221; has been adopted by the City of Greater Bendigo council.
