I’M determined to do everything I can to help local seniors who are under pressure from the cost of living.<\/p>\n

That’s why we’ve slashed the cost of driving with 20 per cent off car registrations. It’s real help right now that is making a difference.<\/p>\n

With 20 per cent off rego, Victorians who have paid their registration between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026 for a light vehicle can get up to $160 back.<\/p>\n

You can claim up to two vehicles registered under your name and you will get the full rebate regardless of whether you pay your yearly rego in full or in instalments.<\/p>\n

To claim your rebate, you can:<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’re also providing real help for Seniors by slashing the cost of travelling on our public transport network, with half price fares until the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Under half-price fares, a full daily fare to travel anywhere across the state will cost $5.70, rather than $11.40. Saving a regular commuter more than $850.<\/p>\n

Free public transport during April and May was a temporary measure to help Victorians and reduce the pressure on the pumps. We’re continuing this help by slashing the cost of commuting for the rest of the year.<\/p>\n

Public transport remains free on the weekends for people with a Seniors Card. If you haven’t got your Seniors Card yet, you can apply for yours here: seniorsonline.vic.gov.au<\/a> or contact my office.<\/p>\n

And there is even more help on the way \u2013 locals will soon have access to the biggest and cheapest free midday power offer in the country.<\/p>\n

Three hours of free power every day will take real pressure off household bills and lower prices outside those hours mean families save even more.<\/p>\n

From 1 October 2026, households on the Midday Power Saver plan will receive three hours of free electricity every day between 11am and 2pm.<\/p>\n

Households are estimated to save between $149 and $1,102 per year depending on how much power use they shift to the midday period.<\/p>\n

The Midday Power Saver will help households reduce their bills by shifting everyday energy use like running dishwashers, washing machines and charging devices to the free period.<\/p>\n

It will also be the biggest offer in the country with 2.6 million households eligible, compared to 2.4 million in other states combined.<\/p>\n
