TICKETS may have sold out but that hasn\u2019t stopped the hype train from pulling into Hargraves Mall on Saturday ahead of mid-March\u2019s Triple Header boxing event.<\/p>\n

In a subdued and even respectful display, veteran Anthony Mundine and the man they call \u2018Pretty Boy\u2019 – Michael Zerafa – spoke candidly before their midweight clash at Bendigo Stadium on 13 March.<\/p>\n

Sam La Bruna is a promoter, Zerafa\u2019s manager and also trains three of the fighters on the undercard.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very exciting to be back in Bendigo,\u201d he said. \u201cI was involved in the Horne\/Zerafa fight up here, so happy to be back.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a couple of good fights on the card, apart from Zerafa and Mundine, so it\u2019s very exciting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s some great Australian match fights. These fighters usually fight internationally but because we can\u2019t go anywhere at the moment they are here.\u201d<\/p>\n

In what may be his last professional bout, Mundine said going up against Zerafa was about him choosing his own path.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel good,\u201d he said. \u201cRelaxed.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me it\u2019s about going out on my terms. I want to go face a young lion. Zerafa, I know he\u2019s got a lot of talent and ability. I didn\u2019t want to face some easy beat. I want to test myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nearly 17 years Mundine\u2019s junior, Zerafa said stepping up to the veteran was a childhood dream come true, however when the bell rings, all that will take a back seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited,\u201d he said. \u201cCan\u2019t wait to get in, I wish it was tonight. It\u2019s a fight I\u2019ve wanted for 15 years and it can\u2019t come sooner.<\/p>\n

\u201cMundine, I have huge respect for him, I\u2019ve idolised him, I\u2019m probably in the position I am because of him.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo share the ring with him is a great honour but come fight night there\u2019s no friends. For me he\u2019s just another number, but outside the ring he\u2019s a phenomenal athlete.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with the Mundine v Zerafa main event, the Triple Header also has a significant nine fight undercard with titles on the line.<\/p>\n

Set to step into the ring are a number of Indigenous fighters, and Mundine said he relishes the opportunity to be a role model and set a tone for up and comers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love inspiring my people and try and give them a boost to help them make the right decisions in their life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAboriginal People have unbelievable talent, they are gifted. I want them to make the most of their gifts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI engage with them and try and inspire them, not just through words but through actions.\u201d<\/p>\n
