{"id":74739,"date":"2021-03-11T04:56:36","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T17:56:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=74739"},"modified":"2021-03-11T07:58:05","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T20:58:05","slug":"a-lot-to-take-pride-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/a-lot-to-take-pride-in\/","title":{"rendered":"A lot to take Pride in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FROM 12 to 28 March, join in on the fun and festivities on offer at this year\u2019s Bendigo Pride Festival.<\/p>\n<p>After having to cancel last year\u2019s events due to COVID, festival director John Richards said the community are excited to be able to return for 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s certainly been a little harder to get things up and running again, and things are a little bit later than we might have wanted, but as far as we can tell everything is up and ready to go,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve ended up with less online than we had thought, what we\u2019ve mostly done is still have the same events as usual, just with smaller audiences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the second year in the row we couldn\u2019t have the dog show because it\u2019s not COVID friendly but everything else, we\u2019re just running on intimate terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Primarily a celebration of the town\u2019s queer community, Mr Richards said the annual Pride Festival is also a great way to acknowledge how great it is to live in Bendigo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the pride in ourselves and the pride in where we live because Bendigo is a great place to live and I have found it surprisingly warm, inviting and inclusive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis a festival with range, that can do lots of different things and it\u2019s always great to see diversity and Bendigo itself gets stronger the more diverse we get and the more events we have.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIts community run and volunteer organised, it\u2019s just really exciting to be able to build something like this in Bendigo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although there are plenty of events on offer over the month, Mr Richards said there are a couple of stand-out offerings and installations to look out for on the program.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What not to miss at this year\u2019s Pride Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To book tickets or check out all the events on offer, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/bendigopridefestival.com.au\/events\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>bendigopridefestival.com.au\/events<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heart VR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From 13 to 17 March, virtual reality experience Heart VR is set to premiere, offering participants the chance to experience a simulation of the interior of a beating human heart.<\/p>\n<p>For $10 a ticket, the virtual reality experience is set for The Engine Room, an installation Mr Richards said is not to be missed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a world premiere virtual reality theatre piece, that the Arena Theatre are doing and it\u2019s astonishing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drag Queen Mine Tour<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_74741\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74741\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-74741\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/deborahtriangle-337-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/03\/deborahtriangle-337-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/03\/deborahtriangle-337-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/03\/deborahtriangle-337-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/03\/deborahtriangle-337-1536x1022.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/03\/deborahtriangle-337-2048x1363.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2021\/03\/deborahtriangle-337-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-74741\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Deborah Triangle will take you down, for a tour of the Central Deborah Gold Mine.
