AN exhibition of photo-media showcasing art and movement inside the home has opened at the Bendigo Visitor Centre\u2019s Living Arts Space.<\/p>\n
House of Flux<\/em>, by Bendigo artist Nikita Hederics, will be on display until Sunday, 11 April.<\/p>\n Hederics, who settled in Bendigo in 2020, said she was approached by Living Arts Space curator Amy Carr-Bottomley for the collection.<\/p>\n \u201cThe exhibition is a series of works I\u2019ve been making in my home studio over the past year or so,\u201d Hederics said.<\/p>\n The exhibition uses light, shadows and household materials to create patterns and visual markers of movement through the space.<\/p>\n Hederics worked from her home studio, a space she created during the COVID-19 pandemic while also raising her son.<\/p>\n \u201cOne of the difficult things as a mother and an artist you have to find a whole new way of being and a whole new identity in that space because life just doesn\u2019t work the same way as it did before,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThat becomes a strength in that end because there\u2019s less time and so work has to be made more definitively.\u201d<\/p>\n Hederics said she wanted to give people who visit the exhibition hall a private space to be inspired and reflect on extended periods of being at home.<\/p>\n \u201cI really enjoyed making a space that was somewhat enclosed and using some fabric pieces to make some kind of privacy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe community has been very welcoming and thanks to the City of Bendigo for giving me the opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" AN exhibition of photo-media showcasing art and movement inside the home has opened at the Bendigo Visitor Centre\u2019s Living Arts Space.
