	{"id":75025,"date":"2021-04-09T04:56:29","date_gmt":"2021-04-08T17:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=75025"},"modified":"2022-02-27T11:06:45","modified_gmt":"2022-02-27T00:06:45","slug":"gastronomy-guide-showcases-food-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/gastronomy-guide-showcases-food-culture\/","title":{"rendered":"Gastronomy Guide showcases food culture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AN in-depth guide for everything food in has been developed, as part of Bendigo\u2019s designation as the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.<\/p>\n<p>The online Bendigo and Region Gastronomy Guide features five categories: eat, drink, buy, experience and explore, giving locals and tourists all the information they need about the region\u2019s food destinations.<\/p>\n<p>Chair of Bendigo Regional Tourism David Leathem said the guide is a wonderful celebration of the city\u2019s food culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s from our history, from our indigenous peoples right through to settlers, it\u2019s the use of resources whether it\u2019s water, food, cropping,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s wider than food and restaurants and what that might look like.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a wider story we\u2019re telling here and that very much connects back to our local community, people who have moved here or people who have lived here for generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Leathem said the guide also provides tourists and visitors with complete itineraries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople really want to have experiences as well as purchasing and buying things to have to take home, they want the experience to come out, particularly post-COVID,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Gastronomy Guide was launched last week at PepperGreen Farm, a key supplier of local produce for the region.<\/p>\n<p>Liz March, CEO of Access Australia Group who operates the farm, said the designation for the City of Gastronomy is a big opportunity for local producers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCity of gastronomy is so significant to the develop of fresh and local produce and for showcasing and putting us on the map,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just about getting that message out there and I think the Gastronomy Guide is going to be an extraordinary way of not only showcasing what we do to local community but to visitors and tourists too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The guide can be accessed online at <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/3u1bDcq\"><strong>bit.ly\/3u1bDcq<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AN in-depth guide for everything food in has been developed, as part of Bendigo\u2019s designation as the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
