GERARD Whateley believes the AFL made a mistake allowing Patrick Dangerfield and Zac Williams to play in VFL practice matches, despite serving suspensions.<\/p>\n
Dangerfield was a surprise addition to Geelong\u2019s VFL clash with Port Melbourne, while Williams represented the Blues against Richmond.<\/p>\n
This is despite both being suspended an unable to play in sanctioned AFL or VFL games.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat they got wrong, we were told moments before we went on the air for Crunch Time on Saturday that Patrick Dangerfield was going to play in the VFL practice match and Zac Williams had done so the week before,\u201d Whateley told SEN.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuspended players lining up in VFL practice matches, I\u2019m amazed this even needs to be said out loud, is ludicrous.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuspended players don\u2019t get to play. I can\u2019t for the life of me understand that the AFL has a rule that made this acceptable.<\/p>\n

Dangerfield remains suspended for two more weeks, meaning he missed Easter Monday\u2019s clash with Hawthorn and will sit for the round 4 four matchup against Melbourne.<\/p>\n
