TALES of Bendigo\u2019s past will light up Rosalind Park in an all-new sound and light show during the winter school holidays.<\/p>\n
Awaken – Bendigo brought to light <\/em>will showcase 14 installations made up of lasers, smoke and even holograms around the park and mayor Cr Jennifer Alden said the free show will educate locals and tourists alike on the city\u2019s rich history.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity to tell our story. We have so many unique aspects to our history and obviously people will think of different parts of it, whether it is the traditional owners of the land, if it\u2019s the gold rush, if it\u2019s the Chinese history. There\u2019s so many things that Bendigo is known for,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Marketing manager of the City\u2019s tourism and major events unit Glenn Harvey hopes the sensory experience will draw in crowds from across the region and the state.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re expecting one to five thousand people in the park on a nightly basis so we\u2019re really excited,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis event has been put on as a really great way to stimulate visitation and also for locals to come out over the winter months and enjoy what we have to offer here in Bendigo and learn and hopefully take away some fantastic memories.<\/p>\n \u201cThe great thing about this event is that it encourages people to stay the night. Being nightly for three weeks we\u2019re going to see a big influx of people over the school holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n
