PAUL Harrington hopes strangers and friends will connect at his upcoming art exhibition Faces of Bendigo at Exhibit B Gallery in Bendigo Bank Central next month.<\/p>\n
Harrington worked with other passionate artists of all abilities at Creative Community Studios in Eaglehawk, an NDIS funded program, for around two years on the pieces including graphic designer and animator Sebastian Ratcliffe and artist Alicia Huddy.<\/p>\n
Ratcliffe said Harrington \u201casked a number of people if he could take their photo and then he\u2019d draw the picture from the photo\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think there was over 20 of them that he\u2019d done, but he chose about 15 for the exhibition,\u201d Ratcliffe said.<\/p>\n
Harrington said he used \u201ca bit of pencil, a bit of crayon and pastels\u201d to create the portraits of a variety of people and the process of drawing them was a \u201crelaxing, calm and enjoyable\u201d one.<\/p>\n
The award-winning artist also takes inspiration from nature for his work and said he looks at \u201call sorts of things\u201d to draw.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnimals, something in a tree, something in a cloud when they\u2019re spread out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI told mum about it and you know what she said? \u2018It\u2019s your own imagination\u2019. It could just be normal to you, but what\u2019s it look like to me?\u201d<\/p>\n
Faces of Bendigo will be on show at Exhibit B Gallery from the 1 to 30 June and entry is free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
