LODDON Campaspe Multicultural Services and the City of Greater Bendigo are joining forces with youth support organisation the Reach Foundation to deliver a workshop aimed at helping fifteen-to-twenty-five year olds craft their future.<\/p>\n
The Reach Foundation was founded by former AFL great Jim Stynes and movie director Paul Currie in 1994 to \u201cinspire young people to believe in themselves and get the most out of life,\u201d and works with around 40,000 young Australians every year.<\/p>\n
Salwa Dastgeer is the inclusive communities officer at City of Greater Bendigo and said attendees can look forward to a \u201cfun and interactive\u201d day that will play out in a \u201cnon-conventional\u201d format.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Reach Foundation prides themselves on the fact that they are a young crew that understands how young people want to do things these days,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it will involve a bit of team building and workshopping, as well as challenging kinds of conversations where we\u2019ll talk about life stressors, fears and barriers, and what is it in your head or in your heart that’s really holding you back?\u201d<\/p>\n
Another feature of the workshop, Ms Dastgeer said, will be the opportunity to meet and speak with local mentors from a diverse range of industries, including local government, retail, hospitality and the arts.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy the end of the day, participants will hopefully have more clarity around what their future might look like, what options are available to them, which direction they can take to get to where they want to be in a more efficient and successful way,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Crafting Your Future takes place on Wednesday, 7 July, from 9.30am to 4pm, at the Fosterville Gold Tennis Centre, Nolan Street.<\/p>\n
