VICTORIA\u2019S peak fisheries body will visit Bendigo this month as part of its statewide tour to promote a raft of new initiatives and seek feedback from the recreational fishing public.<\/p>\n
The two-hour forum will be split into two parts – a presentation from fisheries managers, scientists, boating project managers and local Fisheries Officers, followed by question time and discussion with attendees.<\/p>\n
Victorian Fisheries Authority CEO Travis Dowling said face-to-face dialogue with locals is an essential part of how the VFA operates.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe as a State Government organisation understand our role is as public servants, and we work for the public,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo getting out there and listening to men and women, boys and girls who love their fishing, and hearing them tell us what they want to see in fishing, and the things that they appreciate about what we’re doing, is incredibly important for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Dowling said he\u2019s looking forward to visiting Bendigo, which he described as \u201cabsolutely blessed to be surrounded by fantastic fishing waters.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s the gateway to the Loddon region, in terms of Bridgewater and Serpentine, and then you’ve got the whole Kerang Lake system, Kow Swamp, Lake Charm.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of those waterways are absolute mecca fisheries come September, October, but then you’ve also got these year-round fisheries, like Cairn Curran and Eppalock.\u201d<\/p>\n
The meetup takes place on Wednesday, 14 July, from 7.30 to 9.30pm, at the Fosterville Gold Tennis Centre on Nolan Street, Bendigo.<\/p>\n
