BENDIGO based CVGT Australia has committed to supporting Aboriginal Australians finding work with its first Reconciliation Action Plan.<\/p>\n
Managing director of CVGT Australia Jason Russel said the \u201cReflect RAP\u201d, endorsed by Reconciliation Australia outlines ways the organisation can help more people find meaningful work.<\/p>\n
\u201cBuilding strong and respected partnerships with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is a key action from our Strategic Plan and our RAP is integral to delivering on that action,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough the actions in our RAP we will increase our knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and develop partnerships to support closing the employment gap.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are 13 key actions which follow Reconciliation Australia\u2019s themes of relationships, respect, opportunities and governance.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur key actions include improving employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by increasing recruitment, retention and professional development.<\/p>\n
Mr Russel said CVGT Australia, who\u2019s national headquarters are in Long Gully, will invest in research to better understand the barriers First Nations people face when looking for employment.<\/p>\n
CVGT Australia will also trial \u201cnew and innovative approaches to providing complete employment solutions and a better experience\u201d for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, CVGT Australia installed Acknowledgement of Country plaques at office locations in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania during National Reconciliation Week.<\/p>\n
Mr Russel said they worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations to improve the CVGT Australia\u2019s understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring National Reconciliation Week we reached out to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders and community members to attend the installation of our Acknowledgement of Country plaques,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
