	{"id":77171,"date":"2021-07-31T04:56:53","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T18:56:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=77171"},"modified":"2022-02-27T11:05:23","modified_gmt":"2022-02-27T00:05:23","slug":"help-to-get-you-running-on-empty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/help-to-get-you-running-on-empty\/","title":{"rendered":"Help to get you running on empty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HAS your motivation to exercise taken a hit during Victoria\u2019s fifth lockdown?<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re not alone, according to local personal trainer Peter King.<\/p>\n<p>Mr King started Run About Bendigo in May last year, after the state\u2019s first lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been a trainer for another company for three, four years before that, I went out on my own in May, just after the first lockdown and got a good following of quite a few people and just built on from that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do group training and that sort of stuff as well; my passion is training people to run and I\u2019ve just got on from that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With a client base of about 40 people, Mr King runs different sessions including a boot camp style workout, interval training and a long-distance weekend run.<\/p>\n<p>But when Victoria entered lockdown restrictions for a fifth time two weeks ago, Mr King noticed a drop off in his clients\u2019 eagerness to participate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach lockdown I feel is chipping away more at people each one,\u201d he said. \u201cEven now I\u2019m getting people messaging me saying I was lacking the motivation but I\u2019m getting into it and I\u2019m starting to feel better just from the little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Mr King is still able to train one person at a time, he said he posts workouts and challenges to a private Facebook group to encourage people to work out on their own, or with a friend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does take off with someone who will post their workout and that\u2019ll cause a snowball effect of motivation, they see such and such do it, so they think we\u2019ll do it too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr King encourages everyone to brave the cold winter air and make the most of exercising in lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you can exercise through the lockdown, you\u2019re going to feel much better coming out the other side,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe running causes the endorphin release, and it gives them a sense of achievement. They\u2019ve got their exercise, they\u2019ve got out of the house, they\u2019ve got what little sunshine there is at the moment but it\u2019s massive for their mental health and I can just see it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve made so many friends through the running community in Bendigo so it\u2019s great that way too.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HAS your motivation to exercise taken a hit during Victoria\u2019s fifth lockdown?
