{"id":78148,"date":"2021-09-10T04:58:02","date_gmt":"2021-09-09T18:58:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/?p=78148"},"modified":"2022-02-27T11:05:15","modified_gmt":"2022-02-27T00:05:15","slug":"recruits-wanted-for-eaglehawk-cfa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/news\/recruits-wanted-for-eaglehawk-cfa\/","title":{"rendered":"Recruits wanted for Eaglehawk CFA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EAGLEHAWK Fire Brigade is calling for new members to join the team.<\/p>\n<p>The fire and rescue service are looking to fill positions in its firefighting, community education, brigade support and competitions teams.<\/p>\n<p>Captain of Eaglehawk Fire Brigade Kylie Davis said the roles range from emergency response to treasurer and fundraisers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re looking for young people 16 plus, men and women of all ages, active retirees, shift workers and people from culturally diverse communities,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been around for 148 years now, without volunteers the brigade wouldn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve always been 100 per cent volunteer based, the brigade responds to grassfires, bushfires, house and building fires and vehicle accidents as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Davis said there are a number of benefits of joining the team that extend further than firefighting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll receive national recognised accredited training, which is both beneficial for personal and work life,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou might get your first aid certificate, you\u2019ll know how to respond to emergencies safely, use of emergency vehicles because Eaglehawk have a pumper and a tanker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ll learn effective communication skills, you\u2019ll learn some leadership skills as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78150\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78150\" style=\"width: 199px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-78150\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Image6-199x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78150\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The brigade turns out to a mix of urban and rural firefighting calls.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Eaglehawk Fire Brigade is looking for shift workers to take up day-time firefighting positions that can volunteer their time between 9am and 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey need to live within the Eaglehawk, Jackass Flat, California Gully, Sailors Gully, Myers Flat,\u201d Ms Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose immediate surrounding areas of Eaglehawk, to actually be able respond in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re looking for a treasurer, a person with some previous bookkeeping experience would be fantastic, they might be semi-retire or a person who is retired and doesn\u2019t want to jump on the back of a truck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Davis said the community education position involves, \u201cPreparedness and prevention events the brigade might hold or fundraising around the local area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The competition team focuses on fitness, endurance and firefighting skills, with the team competing in CFA-wide championship events.<\/p>\n<p>For more information check out <strong>cfa.vic.gov.au\/volunteers-careers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EAGLEHAWK Fire Brigade is calling for new members to join the team.
