A HERITAGE study covering Bendigo\u2019s south-east suburbs is being prepared by the City of Greater Bendigo.<\/p>\n

The municipality is seeking feedback for stage one of the study, with residents encouraged to share their opinions on what places, landmarks and features should be identified and protected.<\/p>\n

Director of strategy and growth Steve Hamilton said the suburbs of Strathdale, Flora Hill, Spring Gully, Kennington and sections of Golden Gully were part of a heritage gap analysis in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome areas have not been subject to any formal heritage studies and only some Bendigo south-east areas were included as part of the Former Shires of McIvor and Strathfieldsaye Heritage Study undertaken in 2009,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is stage one of the Bendigo South East Heritage Study and the aim is to ensure that as these areas grow and develop, valued heritage places are retained, protected and celebrated.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage people who live, work or who have knowledge about these urban areas to tell us what they think are important places, features and landmarks that need protecting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Hamilton said it\u2019s important for the municipality to understand which places are important to residents as the population continues to grow.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs these specific urban areas grow and develop, the City wants to ensure that heritage places important to the local community are protected and enhanced for future generations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Residents can have their say via an online survey and interactive map available via its Let\u2019s Talk platform.<\/p>\n
