BE inspired by the sights of sounds of Bendigo\u2019s Rosalind Park in an upcoming writing workshop hosted by local author Mia McAuslan.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, 23 October Ms McAuslan will lead Evoking the Landscape, which involves 30 minutes of field writing in Rosalind Park, followed by an hour workshop at the Emporium Creative Hub.<\/p>\n
McAuslan said many people visit the park for inspiration and peace, and the \u201cnatural beauty\u201d of the area provide the perfect background for writers to practice their craft.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s lots of wildlife and beautiful, interesting natural spaces in the park itself so we\u2019ll be doing some observing and paying attention and taking down some notes and responses to the park itself,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
With Rosalind Park in the heart of town, Bendigo writers benefit from its perfect mix of bustling city life and quiet, natural environments.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ve got this CBD where you almost feel like you\u2019re on Spring Street in Melbourne and then 15 minutes away there\u2019s rolling green hills, cows and bushland and it\u2019s a gateway to so many other beautiful parts of Central Victoria,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
McAuslan is part of the City of Greater Bendigo\u2019s Creative Recovery Residency program at the Emporium Creative Hub, which offers mentorship and financial support to five artists or creative businesses to produce new work.<\/p>\n
She said the workshop will also present further networking opportunities between writers and businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cCreative writing is a sought-after skill, and a lot of businesses can learn from writers how to find their voice and their brand for their business,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love to work with emerging writers and I love to find new ways to forge connections between writers and another discipline like research or businesses such as the ones at the Hub.\u201d<\/p>\n
