THE Anglican Parish of Kangaroo Flat\u2019s annual fair is shaping up to be a jam-packed day, full of community fun, on Saturday, 6 November from 8am to 2pm.<\/p>\n
Organiser Geoff Young said there will be everything from trash and treasure, plants, baked goods, preserves, and books on offer.<\/p>\n
There will also be a free concert performed by the Bendigo District Concert Band and local musician Kim Ritchie, as well as a barbecue lunch.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got a well-oiled machine, we\u2019ve been running a parish fair every year since the mid-1990s, it\u2019s got bigger as time got on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecently we introduced a free concert in the church itself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Young said while the challenge of checking patrons\u2019 vaccination status is a new one, parishioners are excited to be able to hold and attend the event in its entirety.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople were just so appreciative of the opportunity to once again be involved in a community activity,\u201d he said. \u201cThings like the fair draw people together.<\/p>\n
\u201cA church is a true community service group. It\u2019s not just about a group of people stereotypically meeting on a Sunday morning, some churches it may be like that, but ours certainly isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re involved in the community, so I like to see that opportunity to have the community involved in this.\u201d<\/p>\n
As well as people selling their goods, there will be a number of invited stall holders, including the VIEW Club, 105.1 Life FM, U3A, the Code 9 Foundation, Girl Guides and Cancer4Kids fundraisers.<\/p>\n
\u201cApart from the opportunity for them to raise funds, it\u2019s also an opportunity for them to raise their profile,\u201d Mr Young said.<\/p>\n
The Annual Parish Fair will be held at St Mary\u2019s Anglican Church, 193-195 High Street, Kangaroo Flat, with access off Church and Bank Street.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
