THE City of Greater Bendigo been launched a new video showcasing the region\u2019s status as Australia\u2019s only UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.<\/p>\n
Two years after Bendigo\u2019s designation, the video was funded by the State Government\u2019s Victoria Together program and celebrates everything from food and drink to creativity and sustainability.<\/p>\n
City mayor Cr Jennifer Alden said the City has put a lot of focus into highlighting the diverse food and culture of the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re successfully building our gastronomy region\u2019s reputation through First Nations\u2019 culture and traditions around food, recognising our creativity and diversity, looking at ways to improve health and wellbeing and prioritising environmental sustainability,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere have been some major achievements so far, Djaara has secured $1.8 million in Federal funding to determine if kangaroo grass grain can be commercially grown and milled.<\/p>\n
\u201cGreater Bendigo, in collaboration with the other shires in our region, also launched the Gastronomy Map and Guide and a local producer directory, which highlights our talented food and beverage makers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Castlemaine film maker Storyland were engaged to produce the video, which will serve as a tourism campaign as Melbourne and interstate visitors are welcome back into the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
