GET back to nature, and normalcy, at the Old Church on the Hill\u2019s Spring Garden Party next weekend.<\/p>\n
Community garden committee member Ainslie Frost said the free event was open to all to share the outdoor space and encourage social connections post-COVID.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve really all been hanging on to be able to connect again with others,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like, particularly after all of the lockdowns, places where people can come and meet each other and neighbours and have that support is so important. The garden has always been a place like that at the Old Church.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe other part of our thinking in doing it was to let people know that we would love them to come along to our garden social club and working bees and to be involved in the planning, dreaming, scheming and management of the garden as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coffee, tea and cake will be available to purchase, with proceeds going towards funding the community garden\u2019s upkeep.<\/p>\n
There\u2019ll also be homemade lemonade, an art stall, and for the young ones fairy floss and kids activities like flower garland making and origami.<\/p>\n
Ms Frost said she hoped the event would encourage more people to get involved in the organisation\u2019s network moving forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful community at the Old Church and letting people know that it\u2019s there is one of the main aims, that they can connect in with that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
