HUSBAND and wife Bede and Mary Gibson are once again welcoming people into their lush one-hundred-acre property for their Spring Open Garden Sculpture Exhibition.<\/p>\n
At Mica Grange, located about 30 minutes south of central Bendigo, the couple are showcasing works from artists across Victoria and afar.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got about 16 sculptures to exhibit here mainly from the Goldfields regions in Heathcote through to Ballarat and Bendigo down to the Macedon Ranges,\u201d Mr Gibson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost of them are from there but we also have some from Melbourne, South Australia and New South Wales country as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe compliment that with garden art which we buy in ourselves. There\u2019s something for everyone really, from $7 up to $7000.\u201d<\/p>\n
The duo first started exhibiting on their property some 10 years ago, and Mr Gibson said they\u2019ve since grown to love it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is something we enjoy, it gives you something to strive to each year. And we know lots of the people who come enjoy it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt gives us an incentive to keep the garden nice and tidy, neat and creative.\u201d<\/p>\n
The spring exhibition launched late last month, and Mr Gibson said attendees have been inspired by their surrounds.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been very well received, everyone\u2019s very interested in it and they like the open space,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got terrific views across the Sutton Grange Valley here and people like to wander around the garden and enjoy morning or afternoon tea.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey also like the creative ideas, saying \u2018oh that\u2019s a good idea, I can do that in my garden\u2019. That\u2019s the main aim of it, to give people ideas for the enjoyment of their own garden.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mica Grange is open every weekend until 5 December from 10am to 4.30pm. Entry is $7 for adults or free for children under 18 years of age and attendees must also show proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
