RESIDENTS between fourteen and twenty-four are being encouraged to join the City of Greater Bendigo Youth Council.<\/p>\n
The City is looking to fill four positions for a one-year term, with the roles set to include local young people in key decision-making processes.<\/p>\n
Current youth councillors have held positions on the Creative City of Gastronomy Advisory Committee, the Bendigo Safe Community Forum and as part of the City\u2019s Economic Development Strategy.<\/p>\n
2021 Youth Council mayor Jack Smith said he has enjoyed advocating and providing a voice for young people to impact policies, plans, strategies and projects.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a youth councillor you get to have a say on important issues in the community,\u201d Mr Smith said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s also a great opportunity for young people to meet others with similar interests and ideas, build our leadership skills and develop the knowledge and abilities to influence change.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had the chance to develop knowledge in teamwork, meeting processes, organising projects, public speaking, advocating for change and consulting with our peers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI encourage young people to apply as they will learn so much and have the opportunity to be involved in some really great projects.\u201d<\/p>\n
