Glow in the dark line marking has been installed from Nolan Street to Howard Street, around Lake Weeroona in the City of Greater Bendigo\u2019s latest attempt to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety at night.<\/p>\n
City engineering manager Ian McLauchlan said the installation is the first time the photoluminescent product has been used in the region, which provides safety benefits at minimal cost.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis new line marking product looks and functions like ordinary line marking in daylight but emits stored light which enhances its visibility when dark,\u201d Mr McLauchlan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith lighting unaffordable and impractical at a lot of locations, it is believed that photoluminescent line-marking may provide a cost-effective solution to assist users to safely navigate roads and pathways in low light and night-time conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Bendigo Creek Trail is a very popular and well used shared use path in Greater Bendigo and the line marking is expected to enhance the useability of the path both during the day and at night.<\/p>\n
The initiative is in partnership with the Department of Transport and delivered by Regional Roads Victoria.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe City is pleased to partner with the Department of Transport to trial this new line marking technology along a considerable part of the Bendigo Creek Trail and around Lake Weeroona,\u201d Mr McLauchlan said.<\/p>\n
