\u201cOn wards where we deal with physical illnesses, you see cards and flowers but on the psych ward you don\u2019t usually see this,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have spoken to patients who have spent Christmas and New Year\u2019s on the wards and I explained the project to them, and they said it would\u2019ve meant so much to them because they felt like the world was partying and nobody cared about them.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you\u2019re in hospital at that time and you\u2019re not well, to then receive a token of good will saying \u2018I see that you must be going through a hard time and I\u2019m thinking of you\u2019, it would really bring some hope to the people and let them know that they matter regardless of not being well or their mental health struggles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Bradley said people should remember to be respectful of others\u2019 struggles when writing a card and be sure not to minimise their experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf somebody doesn\u2019t know what to write, it\u2019s fine to even just say \u2018I\u2019m thinking of you at Christmas and I hope it\u2019s as good as it can be\u2019 or \u2018somebody in the community is thinking about you\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
