THE cavernous shell that once housed the legendary John Palmer’s Gym in McCrae Street is set to play host next week to what’s shaping up as the gig of the year.<\/p>\n
The dormant space will burst back to life, if only temporarily, on Saturday, 11 December for the launch of home-grown sensations Four Lions\u2019 new album, Wide Awake<\/em>.<\/p>\n A fired up Four Lions\u2019 songwriter and lead vocalist Shann Lions sees the upcoming performance as the ultimate realisation of what the band\u2019s fifth record was inherently designed for straight up stadium rock.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re bringing in a huge stage, PA and lights,\u201d he said. \u201cThis shall be like the closest we can get to an all-ages, licensed arena music concert in Bendigo.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are playing most of the new album minus a couple of songs from it.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s an album launch, so why not treat the crowd to 90 minutes of all our new, old, and deep back catalogue?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re lucky to have Ash Greblo performing comedy, and Uncle Rodney Carter conducting a Welcome to Country on the night too.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s going to be not just a show but an event.
