ROLL up to the thirtieth annual Centre State Swap Meet when it returns later this month.<\/p>\n
The all-day event set for Sunday, 23 January at the Bendigo Racecourse will be open to keen car enthusiasts from 7am.<\/p>\n
Committee member Rick Christensen said organisers were hoping for a record turnout after an uneventful few years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been hanging off because of COVID of course but we\u2019re all excited to run the event because we\u2019ve done nothing for 18 months,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people that come to the swap meet, they\u2019re in the same position. Other events have all been cancelled so all the sellers and buyers are keen to get to an event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t know what to expect but we\u2019re hoping, because nobody has been anywhere for nearly two years, that a lot of people will turn up.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the first local swap meet in the Bendigo automotive world\u2019s calendar for the year and Mr Christensen said it combines two events in one place.<\/p>\n
\u201cStall holders will set up their stalls of new and used parts, automotive memorabilia, vehicles and clothing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the same time, we have a show and shine which is all makes of vehicles; classic, restored, muscle cars, motorbikes, trucks.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no limit, just as long as it\u2019s something interesting, they can turn up.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Christensen said the event was open to anyone, from families with young children developing a passion for anything automotive to older enthusiasts partaking in their lifelong hobby.<\/p>\n
