THERE\u2019S nothing like a dip in the pool to keep you cool in summer, and Bendigo has plenty of facilities to choose from.<\/p>\n
For five-year-old Ava, the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre\u2019s splash park is unbeatable and her mother, Kayla Price, said it was her daughter\u2019s first choice when the heat hits.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I could take her here every night after school, I would,\u201d Ms Price said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAva loves the fact that the bucket fills up and it splashes, that\u2019s her favourite thing out of the entire playground.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince the day she was born she\u2019s loved the water, you can\u2019t get her away from it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The centre is located in Kangaroo Flat on Browning Street and also features heated and toddler pools.<\/p>\n
Young ones can also get their fun fix for free at the Long Gully Splash Park at 21 Cuneen Street, open every day from 9am to 8pm.<\/p>\n
Mother of two Tania Craggs is planning to take her young kids to a pool fortnightly this summer to help keep up the skills they\u2019ve developed in their swimming lessons.<\/p>\n
Ms Craggs said she felt it was important to get her 19-month-old daughter Elena into classes now that her seven-year-old son Levi has developed a passion for splashing.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe loves the pool especially since he\u2019s started swimming lessons with school. Anything that splashes and he\u2019s right there,\u201d Ms Craggs said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne thing that I regretted with Levi was that I didn\u2019t put him in swimming lessons when he was little, so it\u2019s something that I put as a high priority for our daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re looking to dive a little deeper or test your swimming speed, you can head to the 50 metre pools at Bendigo East, Brennan Park, Golden Square and White Hills swimming pools, or the Faith Leech and Peter Krenz centres. Toddler pools and a kiosk or cafe are also at each location.<\/p>\n
