AFTER two interrupted years of learning, VCE students across the state woke up last Thursday morning to their final results.<\/p>\n
Principal of Bendigo Senior Secondary College Dale Pearce praised this year\u2019s cohort, who have been dealing with extended periods of online learning since 2020.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re a really resilient group of kids, they\u2019ve done well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve had a really tough run, they\u2019ve had two years. Last year\u2019s group was difficult because it was new and so intense and two really long periods of remote learning completely out of the blue.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut this lot\u2019s been different, there\u2019s been more interruptions. They\u2019ve been shorter, but they\u2019ve had the full two years.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s top scoring student at BSSC, Lachlan Moon, said he was \u201ca bit surprised\u201d when he received his ATAR of 99.05.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t expecting to get that high, but I\u2019m very proud that I did,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said his parents, teachers and friends all helped motivate him to achieve his best.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got good friends and a good family, I\u2019ve been given the opportunity to do well, and I made the most of it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Another high-performing student, Lachlan Woodward said getting his ATAR was a weight lifted off his shoulders.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was pretty happy when I saw it this morning,\u201d he said. \u201cI was really relieved, I just sat there looking at it for 20 minutes like \u2018oh it\u2019s all over\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Woodward said he enjoyed being back at school to finish off the year, however peer Audrey Andrews had a different view.<\/p>\n
\u201cI actually liked remote learning because the distractions were a little bit less,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s year 12s had until Monday to list their university preferences, with the first round of offers released mid-January.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
