NOW is the time to have your say on the design of new public toilets at Railway Place in Elmore.<\/p>\n
The planned build would replace the existing facilities and includes four cubicles for unisex toilets and one children\u2019s nappy and clothes change space.<\/p>\n
The current public toilets are over 60 years old and no longer compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act (1992<\/em>), according to City of Greater Bendigo acting property manager, Janyce McMurtrie.<\/p>\n \u201cThe proposed new facility will be inclusive and accessible for people of all ages and abilities by incorporating a Changing Place and four fully accessible unisex cubicles,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis will help provide ultimate flexibility for the community by not needing to wait for an available cubicle and the design of the four accessible unisex cubicles will provide more space to support parents with young children, carers and elderly people.<\/p>\n \u201cChanging places are important because they provide facilities for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets.<\/p>\n \u201cThe addition of a changing place will be fantastic for Elmore, as it will allow people who require such a facility to plan their trip and stop in the township when travelling which could hold great economic benefits for local business and attractions.\u201d<\/p>\n Works are expected to start in November and continue through to July next year, with portable toilets available during that time.<\/p>\n The online survey asks respondents to give the plan a star rating and answer whether they think it suits the surrounds of the town.<\/p>\n
