John Williamson\u2019s Winding Back <\/em>Tour has recommenced this month after it was interrupted due to COVID-19 last year.<\/p>\n

The tour will take Williamson across Australia, something he\u2019s done regularly for the last 50 years, as he stops off around the country for 40 shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year is going to be really busy, especially the first half because we\u2019re doing a lot of catch-up cause people have kept their tickets and I can\u2019t let them down,\u201d Williamson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll be a lot busier. This upcoming tour is pretty flat out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tour will most likely be Williamson\u2019s last, but he hasn\u2019t ruled out the possibility of playing shows in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got to be a bit more picky because I have other projects on the land and I want to stay at home a bit more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no love lost for Williamson when it comes to performing but he said it\u2019s time for him to wind back his workload.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m enjoying it as much as ever, I\u2019m just warning people I might not be as full of energy into my 80\u2019s,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know one day I\u2019m going to say I can\u2019t do this anymore, and it\u2019s better to wind back rather than just all of a sudden pull out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time I get on stage I think \u2018why would I give it up\u2019 but at 76 things are going to change for me and my fingers are getting sore all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williamson said he wouldn\u2019t be writing as many songs now he\u2019s reducing his workload.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t write now unless I get inspired to write,\u201d Williamson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have to write anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

The modern music industry has made it difficult for artist to make money according to Williamson.<\/p>\n

The renowned Australian artist said streaming services have made music \u201cnot worth recording albums anymore\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve stopped selling cd\u2019s now so what\u2019s the point,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can put out the odd song that is good for the career just to keep it fresh, but I used to have projects where I\u2019d write 10 to 14 songs for an album.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s doesn\u2019t happen anymore, and I wonder how this will affect song writers in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

After touring for over 50 years, Williamson isn\u2019t able to narrow down any favourite venues he said he loves to perform at.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have favourite venues all around Australia and the audiences are always great, so I don\u2019t really pick favourites,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the place fills up that\u2019s when I enjoy it the most because you know they\u2019re all there and excited about it and the vibe is great and it\u2019s a joy to perform for them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
