AN ONLINE survey is underway for residents of Greater Bendigo to have their say on road safety in the town\u2019s CBD.<\/p>\n

Municipal engineering manager Ian McLauchlan said the area is the largest commercial precinct in Victoria north of the Great Dividing Range and it is important to look at all viable safety measures.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople come to the city centre for a range of reasons,\u201d he said. \u201cWhile there they shop, eat, work and attend events, so it\u2019s important that this busy area is safe for people to move around in whether they are pedestrians, cyclists or motorists.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn July 2018 the City introduced a 40-kilometre speed limit in the city centre and undertook a range of road safety initiatives, including the installation of new roundabouts and other treatments to improve safety.\u201d<\/p>\n

Feedback from the survey will be used to help the municipality identify areas for improvement for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists and also help develop the new Greater Bendigo Road Safety Strategy.<\/p>\n

The city centre stretches from Ulumbarra Theatre to the Myers Street roundabout, Bendigo Marketplace and Queen Elizabeth Oval. It is home to over 1000 businesses and 11,000 jobs.<\/p>\n
